TAKING HOLLYWOOD'S GLITZ & GLAMOUR BEYOND THE RED CARPET
The Academy Awards are one of the most anticipated awards shows on television. Each year, millions of people tune in to watch celebrities walk the red carpet and find out who will take home each coveted gold statuette on Hollywood’s biggest night.
But the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences wanted to improve how they were connecting with audiences—and they turned to Sparx for help. In a television history first, Sparx worked with the Academy and network partner ABC to gamify the 2016 broadcast. Hundreds of thousands of viewers tuned in and played along, predicting who would take home each award.
Not only did the real-time polling transform the live broadcast into an interactive event, but it also enabled the Academy capture first-party data to better understand their viewers.
